Infiniti LE

The Infiniti LE is a concept car that was revealed to the public at the 2012 New York Auto Show. A spokesperson from Infiniti said the vehicle is a ‘production intent’ concept and will be available to the market in 2014. No information was provided as to whether that was early 2014 as a 2014 model year, or late 2014 as a 2015 model year.

The Infiniti LE concept is based on the Nissan Leaf platform, but the LE concept has an upgraded electric motor, and is more aerodynamic than the Leaf.

No details on the Infiniti LE price were given.

2 theories on the potential Infiniti LE price have been discussed around the internet.

  1. Based on the luxury pricing of the Infiniti line compared to the Nissan vehicles, the price premium could put the cost of the Infiniti LE around $40,000 USD.
  2. Given the electric vehicle specifications of the Infiniti LE, the price should be between the $32,500 Nissan Leaf, perhaps higher than the $38,100 Nissan Leaf SL, and the $57,400 Tesla Model S.

Infiniti LE Availability

From the 2012 release of the concept: Nissan has big plans for the Infiniti LE electric vehicle. Set to enter production at the Smyrna, TN Nissan plant at the end of 2013, the Infiniti LE will go on sale sometime in the beginning of 2014.

By the end of 2016, Infiniti is expecting the LE to be selling 25,000 vehicles a year. Andy Palmer, executive vice president of Nissan, confirms the LE will still be in production 4 years from now.

In 2013, Nissan said they aren’t going to put the Infiniti LE into production.
