Chevrolet Bolt Roof Rack Options
When the Chevrolet Bolt EV first started shipping in late 2016/early 2017, there was no roof rack option from Chevrolet, and no aftermarket companies had any solutions listed on their websites. Long discussions occurred on Bolt Forums discussing a single picture of a Bolt EV with a surfboard on a roof rack.
Later in 2017, in March and April, owners started noticing that the Thule UK website had a roof rack listed with kit # 3168 that would mount to the flush roof rails on the Bolt. The US and Canadian Thule sites did not list any solutions. Source: Chevy Bolt Forum
Chevrolet Bolt Roof Racks
There is currently no Yakima options for a Bolt EV roof rack without the flush rails.
For fitment, go Yakima’s site and look up the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt with flush rails. It will show you:
- Tower: SkyLine Towers 4 Pack
- Front Clip: Landing Pad 19 (this appears to come in a set of 4 so only one set is needed to cover front and rear)
- Rear Clip: Landing Pad 19
- Minimum Bar Size: Small
M4 (distance between front and rear crossbar leading edges): 28 1/4 ”
Front Bar To Hatch (distance from center of front crossbar to open hatch at the level of the crossbars): 45 ”
Weight Limit: 165 lbs
List price is:
- $490 with the JetStream crossbars – aerodynamic with T-slot
- $414 for the CoreBar crossbars – aerodynamic without a T-slot
On the Thule UK website, for both the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt, and 2017 Opel Ampera-e, there are kits listed for both the Bolts with and without the flush rails, with installation guides.
There is no options on the USA and Canada Thule websites as of May 2017.
