Hyundai IONIQ Availability

Specs and Info

First launched in South Korea in February 2016, with the battery electric model following in July 2016, the IONIQ has been long anticipated in North America. This page contains all of the most recent information on the 2017 Hyundai IONIQ release dates for different countries around the world. If we’ve missed something, please let us know!

USA Availability

Recently, at the 2017 Washington Auto Show, Hyundai USA announced the hybrid Ioniq and Ioniq Electric EV will go on sale in the USA by April 1, 2017. An AutoBlog article from early Februray 2017 states the IONIQ Ev will be delivered by the end of the month.
Following, set to go on sale by September 1, 2017, is the plug-in hybrid version of the Ioniq.

Hyundai has announced a subscription based option for the IONIQ Ev called Ioniq Unlimited. It covers everything from charging costs, scheduled maintenance, replacement of wear items, registration and any purchase fees. With unlimited mileage, the program should attract newcomers to the segment that wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford a new EV. The subscription program will be offered in California in early 2017.

Each of the 3 variants will be sold nationwide, but the plug-in hybrid version will only be stocked in California and other ZEV states (approx 10 states), and will be a special order vehicle in the remaining states.

IONIQ Availability in Canada

Hyundai Canada has been suspiciously quiet about the IONIQ – their website simply has a ‘sign up and stay tuned’ section with no pricing or dates available yet. On the forum there are people who have contact dealers directly, and dates being given to them is that the IONIQ Electric will be available in Canada sometime in April or May 2017.

United Kingdom Hyundai IONIQ Availability

The IONIQ Hybrid and IONIQ Electric variants went on sale in late 2016. The IONIQ Plug-in is expected to arrive in UK showrooms in July 2017.

Finland

Some IONIQ electric vehicles have already been delivered in Finland, and reports are saying the advertised NEDC range is achievable in cold winter driving because it uses such little heat for heating. The range estimates should easily be beaten in the summer months.

France

The IONIQ Electric went on sale in January 2017, and for the first month, sold 37 copies. Some say the low numbers are due to lack of stock at dealerships in France.

South Korea

The Ioniq Hybrid was first released in South Korea, back in February 2016. The 2017 Hyundai Ioniq Electric went on sale in the fall of 2016 and is selling better than the hybrid model.

Malaysia

The Ioniq Hybrid was launched in Malaysia in November 2016 in 2 trim levels.

Sweden

There are some Ioniq Electric vehicles available for test drives, but dealers are saying 3-6 months before one can be ordered.
