Based on the concept car unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Audi e-tron is Audi’s first all-electric vehicle. It is scheduled to be launched in early 2019.
In April 2017, reservations were opened in Norway, with more markets added in January 2018.l On September 17, 2018, in San Francisco, the final production version was revealed. The same day, Audi USA started accepting orders.
Production of the e-Tron was started in early September. In October, Audi announced there was a four-week delay because of a bug in the software.
In November 2018, AutoCar UK test drove an Audi e-Tron Prototype, and although they decided to hold judgement until driving a production version, they did say that “Audi cut no corners as it raced to enter the burgeoning electric luxury car segment.”
In September 2019, the Audi e-Tron was being produced exclusively in Audi’s plant in Brussels, Belgium. Audi announced that production of the e-Tron would start in 2020 at the FAW-Volkswagen Changchun plant in China as well. src
