2019 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid

The second-generation Crosstrek launched in 2018, and Subaru is making a plug-in hybrid version of it for 2019.

The Crosstrek plug-in will come with a 2.0 liter atkinson cycle gasoline powered engine, and an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT). In addition, there are 2 electric motors – one behind the front axle, and one in front of the rear axle.Total system power is 148 horsepower, with 149 lb-ft of torque.

With an 8.8 kWh lithium ion battery pack, the Crosstrek PHEV will have 17 miles of electric range. Charging time is 5 hours using a standard 120 volt plugin, and only 2 hours with a Level 2 EVSE.

Efficiency is rated at 35 miles per gallon combined, with 90 eMPG using only the battery pack.

Pricing starts at $34,995 in the USA and qualifies for a $4500 federal tax credit.

As for availability, Subaru is only planning to stock the PHEV at dealers in the 10 CARB compliant states, and will allow customers elsewhere to order the vehicle.
