Volkswagen e-Up! Specs

Specs and Info

The Volkswagen e-Up is the all-electric version of Volkswagen’s Up! city car. It is powered by an AC electric motor producing 60 kW / 82 PS and 210 Nm of torque.

Power is provided by an 18.7 kWh lithium ion battery pack that can be charged with AC or DC sources. Using a 3.6kW wall box, that comes optional to UK e-Up customers, the battery can be recharged from flat in around 6 hours. If using the Combined Charging System (CCS) that delivers current up to 40 kW using a DC supply, a flat battery can be charged in about 30 minutes to 80% capacity.

Maximum potential range for the Volkswagen e-Up is around 93 miles – depending on driving style and conditions of course. Official NEDC range rating is 99 miles, which translates to around 63 miles on the US EPA test.

The e-Up! has 2 economy profiles in addition to the standard driving mode: Eco and Eco+. Eco limits the electric motors output power to 50 kW and reduces the air conditioning and modifies the accelerator response. Eco+ limits maximum power to only 40 kW and modifies the accelerator response even further.

When it comes to slowing down and stopping, the Volkswagen e-Up! has 4 different levels of regenerative braking – D, D1, D2, D3 and B. D has no regen, and each setting after that has an increasing level of regen applied. In these modes, the brake lights are also automatically lit when the accelerator pedal is released.

While the e-Up! is not a sports car by any stretch, it achieves delightful numbers due to the constant electric motor torque, and small overall vehicle size. 0 – 37 mph time is around 4.9 seconds, and 0 – 62 mph is around 12.4 seconds.
