Taycan is the production name chosen for Porsche’s Mission E concept coupe that was first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show back in 2015.
The official production name of Porsche Taycan was announced at Porsche’s 70 years of sports car ceremony in June 2018. Taycan means “lively young horse” in Turkish.
Production is planned for 2019, with around 40,000 units being produced at Porsche’s Zuffenhausen plant.
In early 2019, a Sport Turismo version of the Taycan was seen testing. It has a slightly higher suspension, a longer roof with more storage Porsche says it will launch a Taycan Sport Turismo at the “start of the next decade” so a production version is likely to debut in 2020.
